While our hearts are full, we’re also holding a special place today for Binx. We definitely feel his absence this year after losing him in September, but we know he’s watching over all the holiday chaos from across the rainbow bridge. 🌈✨

This Thursday, December 18th, would have been Binx's 8th birthday. 🕯️🐾

Writing this was one of the most vulnerable things I've ever shared publicly. But Binx's story—our story—deserves to be told in full. He wasn't just my cat. He was my karmic companion, my spiritual teacher, and quite literally, the reason I'm still here today.

Eight years ago, I adopted an eight-month-old shelter cat when I was in the darkest place of my life. Newly sober, drowning in depression, and barely holding on. I didn't know it then, but that little soul with the knowing eyes was about to save my life and guide me on a journey toward Buddhism, mindfulness, and becoming the person I was meant to be.

While Coco is our Chief Wellness Officer, Nova has appointed herself Director of Chaos Management.

Title: Tortie Queen, Meditation Disruptor, Professional Keyboard Supervisor Age: 5 years of absolute sass Breed: Tortoiseshell (with the attitude to prove it) Specialty: Reminding me that control is an illusion and also knocking things off tables.

She knocks things over. She yells at nothing. She sits on my laptop mid-sentence. She demands attention and then immediately walks away when I give it to her.

She's a tortoiseshell cat, which means she came pre-programmed with sass, opinions, and the belief that she owns this house (and honestly, she might).

But here's what Nova's taught me: You don't have to be calm to be whole. You don't have to be peaceful to be present.

Sometimes wellness looks like embracing the chaos. Sometimes healing means laughing at the absurdity. Sometimes the lesson is simply: let go of control, because a 10-pound cat is going to do whatever she wants anyway.

Nova, you're a menace. And I wouldn't have it any other way. 🧭💜

💖 Let's Talk About Our Digital Well-being: Choose Kindness 💖

Social media is a powerful tool for connection, but the curated perfection and constant comparisons are taking a real toll on our mental health. We have to be honest about the negative effects and actively work to make our online spaces healthier.

When I was struggling with my mental health, social media wasn't the dominant force it is today. Honestly, the thought of navigating those struggles while facing curated perfection and constant comparison online gives me pause—it would have made things exponentially harder.

The constant pressure to perform, to present a perfect life, and to measure our worth in likes and comments is taking a severe toll on all of us.

The reality is, our digital habits affect our emotional well-being:

Studies link heavy social media use to increased feelings of loneliness, envy, and reduced self-esteem.

The pressure to "keep up" often creates a vicious cycle of anxiety and digital burnout.

We have the power to change its climate. We need to be the change we want to see.

Let's shift the focus from performance to authenticity and connection. I'm advocating for a commitment to mindful posting and compassion in every interaction.

Mindful Posting: Before you share, ask: Am I posting this because it feels authentic, or because I feel obligated to impress?

Soul Direction Sunday 🧭

For years, I felt lost in my own life.

I was moving through the motions—doing what I thought I should do, being who others needed me to be, pushing through pain and exhaustion because that's what I thought strength looked like.

But beneath all that doing, there was a quiet voice I couldn't hear anymore. My own voice. The one that knew what I truly needed, what brought me alive, what my soul was here to do.

Then I started meditating.

Not because I thought it would change everything. Honestly, I just needed five minutes where I wasn't drowning in anxiety and the overwhelming noise of trying to survive.

But something unexpected happened in those quiet moments. I started hearing myself again.

Not the anxious voice telling me all the things I should be doing. Not the critical voice listing everything wrong with me. But a deeper, wiser voice—the one that had been there patiently waiting for me to stop and listen.

That voice told me: You need to rest. You need to honor your body. You need to create space for healing. This path of wellness—this is yours to walk, and to share.

Meditation didn't give me a lightning bolt moment or a clear roadmap. It gave me something better: connection to my own inner compass. The ability to ask myself "What do I need? What feels true? and actually hear the answer.

That's how Compass Rose was born. Not from external validation, but from sitting in stillness and finally hearing what my soul had been trying to tell me for years.

Your soul knows the way. It knows what you need, what lights you up, what you're here to do. But you have to get quiet enough to hear it.

Meditation isn't about emptying your mind or achieving some perfect state of zen. It's about creating space to listen. To reconnect. To remember who you are beneath all the noise.

When you sit in stillness, even for just a few minutes, you're finding your way home. To yourself. To your truth. To your soul's direction.
